Yvette Leftwich, a native Washingtonian and Military Veteran, completed her graduate studies in Marriage and Family Therapy, at Capella University. She stresses the importance of mental Health and stability for the youth and adolescents within our communities, specifically but not limited to, young Boys. She believes all families should have access to, and are provided with, the resources needed to both thrive and be successful in all facets of their life. Yvette is interested in providing individuals and families with the tools they will need to help themselves by encouraging healthy communication skills, restoring their trust in mental health professionals, and proving that there are still people who care and want to listen.

Yvette’s skill sets include psycho-education, programming, consultation, training, psychosocial assessments and working in the areas of grief and loss and conflict management. She has provided marriage and family therapy in both public and private practices throughout the DMV. She is elated to begin working with couples and families here at Mind and Body Solutions.

Prior to joining our team at Mind and Body Solutions, Yvette served as the Student and Family Wellness Coordinator at The Social Justice School of Washington DC. While in this role, Yvette had the opportunity to create and implement wellness programs. These programs evaluated the needs of the prospective students, and she utilized them to improve the mental, emotional, and physical health of the participants, families and staff. This was completed by providing individual and family therapy sessions to all students, families and staff associated with the institution utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Art Therapy, and Solution Focused Brief Therapies.
